I haven't finished the whole episode yet, but talking about the Legacy/Supremacy and then going into the competitive discussion made me wonder - has first turn advantage been as pronounced in the Legacy/Supremacy games, what with so many of the meta/ramp cards and combinations unavailable?

We are getting ready to start our own version of Legacy/Supremacy for our "virtual league," any suggestions? I was half considering accelerating the ban list (i.e., maybe having both the top two teams each week go into the ban bucket), but do you think that would get too crazy too fast?

Stick with one ban list-make people work to get their teams banned. Once the Bard, VS and PXG's left the table, games slowed down a bit. I saw more ties as we went forward as well. The game is definitely not about 1TA in Legacy, it is more about what kind of combo did you come up with and did you see that the counters are already gone for it so it works? Parallax leaves, and suddenly no one even considers Gobby a huge threat. Every option to bolt ping is gone, so how do I activate a Hulk now?
@Basementcuts can speak to his Supremacy format also, but there will still be a lot of good cards left on the table when this is over.

I don't think doubling would make as large of an impact early on as you would think. In our first week everyone brought bard teams or VS. 8 bards to 2 VS teams will typically result in the bard teams rising to the top, the high meta teams won't have enough variance. That being said the bard team that won our first week actually had the greatest variation because it included lantern ring and in effect killed two heavy meta archetypes at once. In our first three to four weeks we were loading teams trying to kill off a ton of stuff at once. The VS team that won week two added a couple things to clean out meta ramp even though it didn't need it. I have found so far that the more organic it is allowed to be the more interesting the builds are by week 5-6 and forward. In our league villainous pact survived till week 8 before getting banned. For many weeks the teams that won brought other harder ramp/churn options and expected others to bring the last real global ramp option and it played right into their hands as an 11th card. I can't speak highly enough of this format, it has been so much fun and the creativity has been exceptional.

I think I would enjoy just starting at week 6 or 7 ;-)

We in the city of Grand Rapids Michigan may have to run this soon. We are in a Fall League currently. But thinking after the holidays, kicking one off.

I've been running a weekly banned tournament in Queensland, Australia. We're 8 weeks in and we have no end goal in mind. We are committed to keep going until someone can win with Vixen!
