• DC Comics Dice Masters: Green Arrow and The Flash Gravity Feed Promo!

In just a few short days we will see the release of the newest Dice Masters set, DC Comics Green Arrow and The Flash. This set give us the first major collectible version of the game without a starter set. The last few sets have given us an extra card with the purchase of a starter set but without a starter this time around, we wondered what we might see different. Don't worry, you still get an exclusive card with this set and our friends at WizKids let us see the awesome card you can plan to add to your collection come Wednesday!

Starting with Iron Fist and The Batmobile, we have gotten some awesome blank art cards in the last year. These cards have been similar to the blank cover comics that people love in that area, they get them adorned by some of their favorite artists or draw on the issues themselves. We have seen the Iron Fist, Batmobile, Melinda May, Batman Beyond, Red Dragon, Blue Dragon and Classic Batman all as blank arts. This week, we have one more card to add to that list: The Flash!

Well, Barry Allen to be more specific. Barry Allen: Super-Sonic Punch is from this new set and one will be given with every gravity feed purchase at your FLGS. The card is a blank art promo and one I am really looking forward to getting my hands on. The nice thing about the blank arts like this is you don't need to buy a gravity feed to get the actual playable version of the card, so if sinking a lot of money into one purchase isn't for you, you don't lose out on the card because it is already in the set. The card itself is a good card and one I could see using in constructed or draft for sure-the 5 cost fist/bolt character with a TFC of 4 is a 3/3, 4/4 and even bigger 7/4 punch with the Synergy ability that says you may pay to give him +2/+4 until end of turn. This guy will pack an aggressive body and attack for a 5 cost, and in draft it is one you can definitely build to early. He also happens to be Justice League affiliated, so for those looking for another good character to add to the JL mix he could be your guy.

So look for that card included with every gravity feed purchase starting next week for the new Green Arrow and The Flash sets! Get out to your FLGS and pre-order or pick up your gravity feeds to get your hands on one for yourself. I personally look forward to seeing some of the awesome blank art creations that come from it once it gets into the hands of some creative artists out there.

Since we are talking about blank arts and the creations on them, have you all seen some of the ones out there? We have seen them come across various social media platforms and in the site here and they all look amazing. In the theme of celebrating another awesome character to have a blank card for, let's take a look at some of the ones we here at TRP and others around the community have gotten commissioned or have done themselves:

Is anyone else slightly underwhelmed by the blank art... For such an awesome set, I figured a "squirrel girl" level promo was in the bag.

Yea, I was expecting an alt art or full art card from the set like you normally get in the collectors boxes at the very least. The buy a box promo being a blank art version is really meh.

@vash989 , @the-mad-pierrot I see your points, but the starter purchase is a reasonable purchase for most people financially. An entire gravity feed may be out of a lot of people's financial means, so it provides something good but not exclusive for the MSRP of a $90 investment. If it was a squirrel girl-type of card, we would hear the other side of the story that we wish it wasn't such an investment to obtain.

Wanted to share the two I had done. Krillin as Iron Fist by Sonny Strait(voice of Krillin), and Batmobile by John York, designer of the Overture of Kings card game

Disappointed. Bring back collectors boxes and real alt art cards.

So I've been "in it" for a couple of years now... do people actually still buy just a random handful of packs? I almost never see it myself, but then again, I'm usually there with other people who play semi-regularly. It seems the typical person either buys a feed or two (or goes "halvsies" if they don't want to sink that much at once into the game) or just goes to drafts and gets the cards/dice from there as well as the prize support.

And for the newer players, since they tend to get a lot of "extras" from the veteran players, I don't often see them going back and buying significant amounts of the older sets - they'll just wait for a chaos draft, buy singles, or trade for what they want.

I guess it's one of the things I've been struggling with as I try to encourage new players - it seems the $1/pack price point was partly chosen to encourage impulse buys, but I'm not sure that actually happens much. Or when it does, it doesn't really bring people into the game, as 10 random dice from 5 random packs doesn't really get you much of anything, even if you have a starter to go with it.

[Note: I'm not suggesting they change anything - I love opening all the packs!]

These look great. I need to find someone to do art on all my blank cards.

Yeah I agree, I've always been really confused at just buying random packs - even with HeroClix it makes more sense.

I know that for every event at my shop we have a 3 pack buy in per person, redistributed based on standing, so one person might end up with up to 10 or so packs depending on the number of people, which actually gives a decent chance of pulling something good, and it helps out the store giving them sales and incentive to keep DM around each week. But yeah, I guess I see newer people buying random packs, but it's hard when you pull a Kwannon, for instance, and still need 3 more dice.

It's a tad disappointing, I must say. I wasn't expecting a completely new card, but some cool alternate art would have been my choice.

I have to say, the Blue Dragon with Lillith on it is freakin' adorable.

It's great that they're giving us something! They don't owe us anything, but they choose to continue offering different bonus promos, which is awesome. Thanks WK!

I see the opposite. Few players at my local shop buy boxes, most buy big chunks when a new set hits, and then handfuls at events. Usually 5-10. I do this myself.
So from where I sit, this makes perfect sense. Is see fewer people buying boxes, so an incentive to buy boxes is a good idea.
Also yeah, thankful that we get promos at all, they certainly don't have to give us extra anything.

I buy at least 1 gravity feed from my FLGS. But I love to buy random packs to see what comes out. I've pulled three or four super rares just buying random packs over the years. There comes a point though that it makes more sense to buy singles from Cool Stuff. Once I have a complete set I don't buy packs unless I'm drafting.

As far as promos... It's a bonus. If I get something, cool. If not, no big deal. Some of the promos I was more anxious to get (Bat-Mite and Squirrel Girl) rather than others (Belaphoss). If I get the blank Barry Allen, fine. If not, no big deal. I'm just ready to start ripping open some new packs!

Fwiw, these are my masterpieces, courtesy of my boys (at the time 7, 5, and 2). (Apologies for my poor skilz, I could not for the life of me get this picture right-side up)

Yeah, $90 feed is way different from a $20 starter, so I get that it's something more blingy than anything.

Some people don't buy feeds but just draft several times. It's not a question of packs vs. feeds; it's a collectable game as it is and we shouldn't be telling people that the only way to get a specific card is to spend $90, and so I'm cool with it.

Love those! Long after you stop playing the the game, I bet you'll still be holding on to those.

My son (8) drew a Red Dragon for me. As cool as it would have been to have a professional artist create something, I like my son's artwork even more.

I'm just...uh...meh? I mean, nothing against blank art, but after we got some really cool characters out of the last few sets, I was hoping for something just a little more interesting. It's not bugging me that much, but it's not what I was hoping for. Add me to the crowd that would've liked an alternate art version (or maybe an alt-art AND a blank, like the Batman Free Comic Book Day promo).

1.) People who can't afford to spend $90 on a feed aren't missing out.

2.) People who buy multiple feeds now can get more use out of multiple sketches instead of having extra copies of the same artwork.

While it would have been cool to have both an alt and a blank, I think the way they did it is fine. We've known for a while that it wouldn't be a unique card with a die, and that makes sense (more expensive to ship the dice, and people only buy 1 starter as opposed to 0 or multiple feeds).

...TBH this is a turn off for me.

a full art or alt art would have been nicer, this....I mean I'm likely gonna get a feed still but it's gone from must to probably will
