I appreciate the honesty and candor during the 6-pack. It's much more entertaining to hear why you vehemently dislike something than it is to hear you guys be ho-hum. This is one instance where "say something nice, or don't say anything at all" should be completely disregarded. I also liked how most of the time, someone had something to say other than "it's just bad....next!" When things are explained or pontificated on, I felt it was much more enjoyable to listen to.

And to poke fun at JT a tiny bit...Deadpool draft isn't fun for him and his group because walling up happens, games takes to long, there are no win-cons, and it's boring. Then a few segments later talks about how is WKO team won every game turn 4. I understand WKO competition is at the level of winning by turn 4 or 5, or setting up some minor control in order to win 2 or 3 turns after that board state is set up. It just made me chuckle. I think I understand where JT is coming from though...the minute this game turns into a "dice game" more than a strategy game, he's out. By that I mean walls are up, there is no combo/win condition/BAC/Chip Damage options, and the game devolves into who gets the better roll or makes an attacking/blocking mistake. This game can get stale for many people this way. I'm not including myself however, I dig "wall up" games. I'm willing to admit though, that if I got to play Dice Masters as much as I wanted, I too would tire of games that seemingly lack direction or conclusion.

Rotation - I enjoyed hearing your opinions on the matter. I still think that because "Surprise Attack - the 2 cost ping a character for 1 or 2 damage" saw a reprint from Age of Ultron, that is probably where rotation will happen after Worlds. I think the spoilers for the 2017 DC Starter Set will be very telling. For instance, if Hulk Out, Imprisoned, or Nasty Plot are reprinted in some form...then I'll have even more reason to believe AOU will be the cut. If something like "Big Entrance" is reprinted, I'd change my prediction to WOL.

Thanks again everyone. Keep up the good work!

Lots of drafts are wall-y. That's why direct damage, overcrush, and heroic defense are so good in drafts. Unblockable. Ways around the wall. And frankly, there's a lot of strategy in those games. How to block, what to block, how much damage to eat.

I once won a WoL draft with 9 dice. I could draft 18 of the best Deadpool affiliated characters and not win a game. Because even with the Teamwork bac, there's less synergy there than I'd like. Take fast and deadly. Bob gives fast away like candy at Halloween. But a number of dp characters have or can gain deadly. The idea of fast is kill and stay alive, but since deadly kills anyway, fast is redundant. You're better off drafting all the non deadly dp characters. So what should be synergy actually limits the good choices in the draft pool. Meanwhile, 9 dice walls were a ton of fun and you have to really math out good decisions.

I joked in the pdc slack channel (a worthwhile chat room IMUCO) that in 15 months maybe I'll feel towards Deadpool what I feel towards ASM now. At the time of release I didn't like ASM but I'd rather draft it than Deadpool. I just feel sorry for whatever set comes out in 12 months or so, because it must be awful for my opinion to change that much (hardy har har).

Part of why I like draft is that it's NOT 4 turns and done. I was playing some unlimited last night and games went a little longer and it was a blast. I look for quick wins only because I'm trying to spike out to the cut and grab prizes. I think the game is healthier without turn 3 kills. I think you win more prizes if you find consistent ways to win fast.

I think this is a very good point and why some serious battle lines get drawn by the fans of this game. There are those that like the quick win for faster gratification and prize grabbing, there are those that like a slower play and find the game more of game if there is interaction not racing to a combo. The big problem is these 2 philosiphies are completely against each other. If the purpose of the event focuses one way the other group gets completely shafted.

I do think this game is floundering and trying a cut-throat strategy to events will ultimately kill this game. Rotation needs to happen soon and hopefully before everyone packs up their dice and leaves.

But what should "competitive" unlimited events look like, then? The only thing that is rewarded in those events is winning (specifically, winning after the cut to the top 8). Not most thematic team, or best combo. Winning. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. But if we don't at least identify that as reality,it gets a lot of expectations all misaligned. I don't begrudge anyone for playing the team they want at a competitive event. But incentives are driven by wizkids at this point. Offering event (or series) exclusives cultivates a collective push to win. Combined with a crazy easy win condition that anyone can slap on a team and win with, this puts the community in the unenviable position of having the bard meta we do now. Some have taken to playing mask ring with great success. Some used TFL with Imprisoned (guilty, but even I brought bard in case I couldn't win with beholder). The rest of top teams I've seen run bard with control pieces. Here's the thing, this meta (at least the inevitability of it) was created by wizkids. Their premier events promote it even more with the prize support. But I can't blame them for not doing anything directly about bard. When pdc did a survey, most responses (probably competitive community biased) indicated they did not want bans. Now maybe something has changed. Maybe another survey will yield different results. I don't know. But the community spoke regarding that particular question. Even if lots of us disagree.

As for rotation, anything that doesn't also include a change to bard will only compound the issue.

This is why I really appreciate what PDC is doing. Personally, I still like competing in the Unlimited Constructed format, even with the current meta - but I also like to tinker. Building teams for Prime format is both incredibly frustrating, and at the same time incredibly fun and rewarding! You start with an idea, and you inevitably get to the point where you say "Ok, and then I'll use BEWD to KO - no, wait, can't do that" or "I'll use Hulk Out/MJ to give Overcru - no, wait" or etc etc etc and you have to start getting clever to get where you want to go.
