Mark this day. 2/22/2017... the world of dice masters is forever changed. A moment of silence for all the bards that will never be played in modern.

Finally banning the card that has made me not want to play for awhile. But too late for WKOs. However isn't Nationals and Worlds in June?

Canadian Nationals are in May. There'll be plenty of Bard/Beholder action going on there.

I wonder if PDC will follow suit and drop their Prime format. Given that there is now an official format, there is no reason for their arbitrary one to exist.

Knowing this was coming, and feeling that the PDC Prime format took away too much, and with at least 2 new sets coming before it, I can get behind this. I will miss my Justice League and Legion of Doom Retribution teams, but cutting it where they did I do not loose my Titans. I will also play more Lanterns, more Batman teams.

As for the Bard, it came in a starter set. Anyone who wanted it could get it. Its not like Gobby or Blue Eyes or Constantine which are expensive on the secondary market. I own the starter and the card, but have never once felt like playing it. Maybe I will have to dust it off before it retires.

The one thing I find interesting is the OP kits like Legion of Doom where Black Manta will retire but Lex which uses a die from JL will not. I never bothered to look at the collector numbers on OP cards. I've got enough I can go look at them tonight.

Edit: I think WK hit this well with a good combination of retirement and banning without going too far in either direction. Good job, WK.

I am all for this... but lets move the date to just after worlds. now all qualifying for us nats and worlds is in a different format than the championship. US nats and Canadian nats are different formats. lets make it a seasonal rotation, removing older sets AFTER the championships.

Breaking news: 2 weeks before the Super Bowl, the Falcons and Patriots were informed that they will be playing volleyball instead of football.

We do have 4 months to prepare and so many other things to play with coming up.

Could not disagree more, and dropping Prime now would disappoint tons of players who have already enjoyed team building for it. Prime is still a lot more restrictive than Modern Age - no Lantern Ring, no Fabricate, no Elf Thief, etc. You've got to really put on your creative hat, and the possibilities are all over the map.

The way things are set up now, we are poised for a firehose-to-the-face of Dice Masters from now until summer! PDC Draft next month, PDC Prime after that, then WKO Draft, then WKO Modern, all while getting new releases every month starting in April... take a deep breath, folks!

Still leaves that lantern ring. And the elf thief. This is far better than nothing though.

PDC Prime will still be my format of choice.

It would be funnier if they were told they were playing the game the rest of the world calls football.

My objection to Prime is specifically that there are no D&D sets available in it. IMO, PDC should add back in FUS so we have some D&D to play, and create their own banned list to include Bard.

I disagree. Prime is good where it's at. To add back FUS adds too many problems (elf thief, a unstoppable dwiz, fabricate for ez ko, blink to cancel overcrushing teams, n cloud kill for ez board clear) to the pool IMO.

Couldn't have said it better. When an entire set can near define the entire meta, I'd prefer it gone.

DWiz still has plenty of stops

Pretty good news. Never thought I would be excited for set rotation, but I think this hits a good balance of taking a lot of older harder to find cards out of rotation while not completely gutting the game. Prime is a pretty cool format, but I think it goes a little too far in that direction. Bard ban is a great call, with many mainstays like pxg, bewd, and Constantine getting the axe I am very interested to see how the meta shifts.

Here's the great thing. Combine this with the recent news about draft's increasing prominence. First, if there's an interaction that you personally do not like, you know it will be gone eventually, whether through rotation or a hard counter being printed. It is inevitable that the effect will leave the modern game. Second, in the meantime, you have another format to play that is starting to be treated in a more major fashion in Draft.

What can I say, Dragons are cool and what brought me into this game. I like Dragons. Its not the same game without them.
