• The Dice Tower DC: Batman Set Review

Tom Vasel has done it again with another great (and very revealing) review of the upcoming DC: Batman set courtesy of The Dice Tower. That full video is linked below, but in the meantime, we have two imgur links for the card stills:

Thanks to @pk2317 's help with providing the screenshots, I was able to narrow down the characters to list off our choices for the last SR. Our choices SR 119 are Orion, Owlman, or Parademon. Personally I believe it will be Orion or Owlman, with me leaning more toward Owlman, since this IS a Batman set.

Holy R Riddler , Batman! I'm totally buying limited wishes for 2 now!

Also, SR Darkseid is the bee's knees!

I also must point out, that once again this DC set looks amazing. There are tons of win conditions. There are lots of theme builds. It will draft great and be able to be played aggressively.

This saddens me immensely that my preferred Marvel sets seemed the opposite usually. Don't get me wrong, I collect all the sets because I love all the mechanics, but D&D and DC seem to be much better of late.

Looking good. Got some stuff that looks super fun to play.

Not clocked anything meta-shaking yet, but reckon drafting is going to have some good cut & thrust to it.

      Wonder how we'll draft flip?

It'll be a little work, but I intend to provide a stack of sleeves (ones that are only transparent on one side) so as to put the Flip cards into. While everyone will know they're Flip cards, no one will know which ones are being drafted, at first. Obviously if there are a few left after several passes, players will know which are which.

      Any other suggestions?

Cover each pile with a rules insert. Cover what you draft with a rules insert. Cover what you have yet to draft with a rules insert. Total of 4 inserts per person. Fortunately each person gets 12.

I agree, i think that using the rules inserts to shield your draft picks is probably the easiest way to do it. Definitely looking forward to drafting it. I also really want to build using Hawk and Dove, plus that Boland art Joker looks so good. Need it.

When magic did flip cards, they just made it public information in Draft. Worked pretty well.

I would *hope* WizKids would provide official guidelines for Rainbow Drafting with them, but if not, that's what I'll be doing.

Instead of using a ton of inserts, my idea is to just move all of the flip cards to the front of the stack. So when each person starts their first pile, they would immediately move all of the flip cards to the front of their pile and pass that way. You will keep all of the flip cards on "the bottom" of the pile as you pass it to everyone.

Still need to have inserts to conceal flips if the first thing you draft is a flip card, but yes, it works easy enough as is.

I have played in drafts where people did conceal their cards and ones where they did not. Unless there is some reason to hate draft, knowing that your opponent got one should not be the difference if you know what is there. You already know how many of each character there are. A couple of the flip cards are ok but none of them are that amazing. Unless I missed something?

Unless I missed it, there was not any of the action counter cards I was expecting with Gadgeteer and Boomerang in this set.

Also was there an explanation on fielding an action die?

This GTM article states that it only applies to Continuous Action Dice. Keeping in mind that it's not an authoritative source (and has been wrong before), since 3/4 of the non-Basic Actions in this set have at least one Continuous version, it would make logical sense and I wouldn't be surprised to see the formal Rules/Keywords clarify only Continuous.

This set looks amazing. I love playing themes and teams, and the additions to the Batman team, Titans, and Crime Syndicate are all exciting to me. Final words: Common Firefly for the win.
