• WizKids Wednesday: The Defenders Team Pack

May is right around the corner and, for me at least, it's a hotly anticipated month thanks to the Dice Masters releases coming our way in the form of The Defenders Team Pack and the Batman set! Thanks to the continued generosity of the great people at WizKids! I'm pleased to go over the second-ever Team Pack release, The Defenders! Not only does the pack contain three of our latest NetFlix stars (well Hellcat did make an appearance in the Jessica Jones series as well... so kinda four), we get some great new utility for modern format and some fun new options for theme team builds in way of the Defenders affiliation.

With that in mind, in today's video we're putting together a Defenders team as I make what I feel to be the best picks for the team.

Thanks again to WizKids for providing the set for me to preview!

Think I missed something? Feel like there are better pieces or Basic Actions to slide into the team? Let's hear about it!

So confused as to why DareDevil isn't here... Well, he makes an appearance on Luke Cage's card, but still. Just finished the second season of DareDevil on Netflix. Very well done!

These high cost cards are awful. When only 3/18 cards is below 5 cost, then the design really needs to change. I would have taken a 4 cost Luke Cage that worked like Turtle Power (reduces the cost of other Defenders, not including himself), instead of a 5 cost.

This - Loki is vaugly playable in casual - Hellcat seems ok, the Iron fist could also be OK in casual or a little fun

      Not loving it

The Loki is not the worst card, the one chosen was only a 5 cost and for the protection offered that is great. I mean, he should stop deadly, overcrush, and you know he is Loki.

It would depend on if Overcrush and Deadly are on the card or not. If the character was given Overcrush by AngerIssues/Haymaker/HulkOut/Whatever or by Gorilla Grodd, blanking it wouldn't take away he Overcrush. Similarly, if Deadly was given by Chimichangas. It would have to be on the actual card to start with.

But agreed he's not too bad and has his uses... just wish the blanking was more like Laufeyson.

Agreed. I really want to get some of these packs, but same as Dr Strange, all these over-costed cards makes me think twice about picking up the packs. You'd think that they'd at least work out a better curve with the cards in general than "here, let's make some 3 cost, some 4 cost, and then everything else 9 cost" (not really, but you know what I mean). I may pick these up, but will probably just put the money towards getting a feed of Batman.

I agree with you. To be honest, the randomness of boosters is something I really like about DM. No excitement in knowing exactly what you are going to get. For those of us that don't spend a lot on the game, we have to get creative with team building, because we don't have an unlimited supply of every card. The starters are necessary though to have a framework to build around... oh, and the SKs, BACs, and the like that you need to play :0)
