We are far enough out from the release date for War of Light and the newest OP cards from Rainbow Draft Weekend that along with Age of Ultron we have some new players that could enter the competitive constructed meta.

But the question is, which ones will they be? Will we see the same strong meta players from this summer and who is going to rise to the top ranks? What will the neat combos and surprise cards be? Here today, just like all the good award show commentators like to do, we will give you our predictions on all the old favorites and new surprises we think this weekend may be making appearances in the constructed competitive meta:

    Dave

I think we may see Gobby with Lantern Ring and Iceman TCFW together. Prismatic Spray will have a place to stop all that Gobby hate.

A rush to UC Mogo + Black Lanterns is something that won't surprise me.

    RJRetro

I fully expect everything in the meta to stay about the same. Not much change from the characters we have seen in the past.

    JThomash

All of the old go-to cards will be there... Grundy, Blue Eyes, Puzzle, Jinzo, Human Torch.

Someone will do an infinite burn team.

I expect to see Cassie Wonder Girl with a Ring of Magnetism and would not be surprised to see Big Entrance put to use.

    Shadowmeld

I bet someone brings Jocasta. Outside of that, I don't expect to see much from War of Light. After DC came out we expected Constantine, and he really didn't have the effect that we thought. WoL has had even less alert time, I doubt we see much in the competition.

From the Age of Ultron, Jocasta, Wasp and Shield Agents ruled that meta.

    Randy

Rare Lantern Ring. Common or rare Wonder Girl. Lantern Battery.

Possibly Black Lanterns in the form of Superman or Batman.

Rare Wonder Girl with Gobby together

    Dylan

I expect to see Lantern ring and Lantern battery to the max. Probably aggro bolt teams.

I'd love to see Hawkeye OP steal the show!

    Isaacbv

I absolutely expect to see all the old favorites that over the last year have been a staple, along with people trying new surprises to see how they gel together. Being this early in the competitive season there will be people willing to try new things and see what happens. I would expect to see good olí reliable Gobby, Tsarina and the Jade and Green versions of our favorite Dr. Bruce Banner. Jinzo may be replaced by the rare Wasp, but YuGiOh will still have a presence with Blue Eyes White Dragon and Doomcaliber Knight. D&D will be represented by Prismatic Spray and Human Paladin. From the Age of Ultron Jocasta and Zombie Magento and Captain America could find their way onto a few teams as well.

Of the new War of Light cards I would expect to see Wondergirl wearing a ring, and ways to slow down action dice, because the Lantern Power Battery and Lantern Ring will be in the mix. Black Lanterns could find use with a certain giant planet. There will be teams trying to take advantage of the Parallax global. Big Entrance Basic Action Card is bound to be worked into speedy teams also.

Most of all I look forward to seeing someone use something so off the wall that it changes how we look at it. So if you are going, make the happen!

I full expect to see at least one Batmobile / Batman Cowardly and Superstitious Lot / Robin Boy Wonder / Big Entrance / Anger Issues / Lantern Power Ring Energy Projection / Lantern Battery Power Source / Prismatic Spray Team. There are enough good action cards to pair with this Batman to give you a nice, Batman / Robin and his utility belt tricks to be competitive.

I've played some games with that team and it is insanely fun. I'm not sure it is top tier, but it is really tough. I think I need one more Batmobile die....

I am also wondering if we see the return of the Tsarina / Spidey Bomb Team with Big Entrance.

If I'm not mistaken the Batmobile/Iron Fist will not be legal until tomorrow (7 days from "new set" release on the 19th) . That said, I cannot wait to see.hear about how the event goes!

No one is thinking Big Entrance Guy Gardener eh?

Big Entrance Munk / Indigo-1 combo might be a thing as well. Paried with anything else for Ramp, and you can pickup all 4 Munk dice for 1 Shield each.

I think the problem there becomes the fielding cost. A TFC of 3+ for both of those dice is rough. Guy Gardener, Kitty Pryde etc would be better swarm choices with 2 zero fielding cost sides

Iron fist team for sure, so bat mobile apparently also legal.

@Indy Mon just noted that Iron Fist was ruled illegal (only out 6 days, not the requisite 7). Bat Mobile is certainly in the same boat.

I want to see as many WOL cards as possible so we can get some muddy text cleared up and ruled on. That rare lantern ring is such a headache to think about.
