I've been a fan of this site for some time now, but this is my first blog post. Please bear with me.
I fell in love with this game when the Battle For Ferun D&D set released. What started out as a "I'll only pick up this one set" quickly evolved into a bit of an obsession.
In my quest to understand the rules better, I started reading and watching everything I could get my eyeballs on. Of course in doing that I basically opened up Pandora's Box. Through watching the videos, I quickly discovered that there were several other sets. These sets contained awesome cards with even more awesome abilities. I just had to have them!
This budding obsession led me to my FLGS in order to try and participate in local Dice Masters events. My first event I got my rear end handed to me. I was like, "what just happened?" The losses only encouraged me to hit the forums to try and improve my game. It was then that I discovered this site, the Dice Masters subreddit, the BGG forums, and several Facebook Dice Masters forums.
Then I stumbled on the 2015 Nationals and Worlds streams. I saw some of the amazing "tricks" the pros had up their sleeves. "Hey how the heck is he able to roll so many dice? What is he doing with that Professor X global?" I must have watched and re-watched those videos dozens of times. I was a junkie. I couldn't get enough.
Slowly, over time I began to learn new things. With the help of so many fine contributors on here and on the other sites my game sense began to improve. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend and compete in the WKO in Orlando, FL this past February. I was so stoked that I made the top 8 and qualified for Nationals! What a difference a year can make!
By far the best part of this game is the amazing community. I have been so fortunate to meet and befriend several of you. My hope is that more individuals will learn about this game and join the community. In order to assist new individuals to the game, I began creating videos and started a YouTube channel. My hope is that it will aid people who are more visual learners like myself, and perhaps provide people with some entertainment too.
Here is the link to my YouTube channel.
I welcome any suggestions and opinions. My hope is to eventually have many tutorials which will aid anyone new to the game.
