That Giant Man is so amazing.

    Pretty pumped about Assemble too!

I'm looking forward to Baron Zemo, Hawkeye-Clint, Nasty Plot, Giant Man, Pepper Potts among others.

No globals on basic actions seems kinda strange.

  6. #6
Not many global a in the set at all (only Wasp above). Could WK be moving away from globals? How does DC compare to AVX & UXM- has this been a trend?

  7. #7
Only 1 global on all those cards pictured. Seems like they're phasing them out or at least reducing the number.

Any word on the Purple Stripe on the Zombie cards being an "Epic" Rarity cards? Or what the distribution of the Zombie cards are into the regular C/U/R/SR setting?

Based on the uncut sheet of SR from Canadian Nationals, I'd say equal distribution of each character SR. So equal #s Jacosta and Magneto. Then one in 7 of the zombies will be full art. No word on distribution of SR in general yet to my knowledge.

Am I the only one interested in the way Wonder Man works? That's really, really awesome. I know it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but he looks super good for a 3-cost shield, and his mechanics make for a very interesting new archetype of card.

Also, did anyone else catch that Star-Lord's cost varies fist to shield? That's new, and could *majorly* change the way characters are put on a team.

New keywords look awesome, and I'm really hoping they'll be used more than just once like Heroic was. The new team affiliations are also really, really exciting... it's about time we start seeing things beyond just Avengers, Villains, and X-Men. The inclusion of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Guardians of the Galaxy can't have come soon enough. I'm definitely looking forward to putting together new thematic teams.

Actually, there are two globals pictured. I don't think they're phasing globals out so much as there are already so many globals available. I'm sure we'll see a new set in the future with a huge amount of new globals to make the game more interesting. Each set, it seems as though they try new things. With UXM, they tried Heroic (even if it didn't work); D&D worked in a lot more weird stuff with actions, and they included Experience and Swarm; with DC, they worked in Overcrush (even if it was already there, they named it and made it more common) and Retaliation; now, we're getting Teamwork and Teamwatch. Fewer globals doesn't necessarily mean that they're scaling them back, it just means that they're trying to put an emphasis on building new mechanics.

Has to be a misprint right? Not that WK would admit it, but right?

    My bad, missed Wasp.

Well, I'm sure at some point AVX and UXM will be retired. So less globals in future sets, will mean less globals overall down the road.

Given that they're willing to shift existing character to new types, perhaps they are willing to play with it "in-set."

Could also give them the chance to model other aspects of the character while giving the energy types more personality.

I'd buy it if the energy on the dice were mixed. Given the other misprints, and VIXEN, I'm not ready to assume this was completely intentional.

I'd love to see a character with different energy types in-set. But I think to balance it, the energy should be mixed in the die to demonstrate the versatility. Maybe abilities are attenuated or cost bumped to account for this. I dunno, but I do think the idea has lots of potential. However, I think this case is more akin to a stray keystroke...

  19. #19
Well, Canary is a fist character but her ability is a bolt (quite thematic for it). We'll have to see.

That's true. And I'm not saying it's not possible, but I would bet the other side of that line 10 times out of 10 for now.

  21. #21
If that's the case, and cards are already getting leaked and some places already have review copies, do you really think they'd have the capabilities to go back and fix that Star Lord? I think we very well could be looking at an evolution of the game by mistake.

    Or a day 1 errata.

  23. #23
I do think that dice that generate energy different than what they cost to buy would be a GREAT way to help players build mono-type or strict dual type teams. Star Lord is cheap enough at 4 that he could reasonably be bought if you missed fists on turn 1. Then you can roll him and he either makes your fist characters more likely or your Guardians cheaper. Pretty solid economic move. It's like mana fixers in Magic; Green elves that produce white mana, artifacts that generate colored mana, etc.

  24. #24
I've PM'd WizKids on Facebook to ask if it is a mistake.

  25. #25
Makes me wonder if Black Canary was a bolt at one point and changed to fist and someone missed it.
