Z-Mags doesn't help with Lantern Ring. Constantine Antihero, Bleez Controlled Rage, and Doomcaliber Knight Skeletal Warrior all work to remove action dice.

Wasn't it ruled that the ring applies the ability to the characters? In this case wouldn't Z-Mags help against the cheapie 3 cost or less rush Lantern Ring teams?

This exactly. Z-Mag might not remove the ring but he effectively blanks its text since none of your guys are getting the damage from it.

I use a combination of Zmag and Constantine, but DCK is another great choice. For me the reasoning for going Constantine is because I can get him out more consistently and quicker than Zmag against a ring team since they use BE. I usually go for a turn 1 Red Drag,BE, Rez, PXG on off turn, then buy Constantine and save energy for ramp. This ensures a turn 3 Constantine. The other option is buying turn 1 polymorph, Rez, PXG, then hope you draw Polymoprh to get Constantine turn 2, but that is much less likely. Either way you can only get a good counter out consistently on turn 3.

Where was it ruled that Lantern Ring is a character? Z-Mags blanks the cards of 3 cost characters.

Not ruled that Lantern Ring is itself a character, but that the Ring adds it's ability to a character. Which according to this can be blanked/removed. Look at the section under "How does ignoring text/abilities work when action dice add abilities to characters and their dice?"

It's been a while but no one has provided the 4/22/2016 update:

The prior ruling as to the ignoring of character abilities added by other dice is overturned. While abilities granted by dice such as Lantern Ring are character abilities for purposes of damage reduction, game effects that would have players ignore text or abilities, such as Magneto, do not remove these added abilities. In other words, while Human Paladin would reduce the damage associated with Lantern Ring, Magneto would not remove the abilities from characters having a purchase cost of three or less.

Breaker, oni, constantine, blink, bleez, Baron Zemo -action hate

Long live the resistance- BAC - direct damage prevention.

Also most Caps from AOU, Human paladin, and iron fist for reduction.

Another route could be hulk green Goliath that you could trigger in their main Step and wipe their board before they can attack.

Also venom Angelo Fortunato would cause problems for a bolt team.

Lex Luthor citizen of metropolis can tax energy types. There is also another umber hulk that does that. The super R from that set would also keep you from losing.

Lastly, energy denial works well against Ring teams. Elf thief and oracle have become popular for that.
